WNBA Outsiders:

A Few Items of Note…

Picked up pieces during last night’s Minnesota-Atlanta game…

1.  Josh Smith and Dwight Howard were sitting courtside and interviewed by some female British reporter who allegedly works for ESPN (since when do we hire Brits to do sports that aren’t soccer or cricket?).  It occurred to me while watching this that Josh Smith and Dwight Howard have a lot in common.  Both have ridiculous amounts of potential they may never tap into.  Smith has freak athleticism that shitty coaching has failed to make the most of.  Put him on a D’Antoni coached team and he puts up 25+ every night.  Give him Pat Riley or Popovich and he could be a lock down defender.  Likewise, Howard should be as good/better than Shaq at this point in his career, but because he never has really had a good coach (I’m not counting Patrick Ewing or Van Gundy), he currently has one passable post move that Kendrick Perkins can easily defend.  Add Brandon Jennings, Michael Beasley, and Stromile Swift into the equation, and you got a team of guys who are a little/a lot worse than they actually should be.  But, back to the WNBA…

2.  Minnesota has a player called Kelly Miller who looks like…well…here’s a picture:

Don’t really know where to go with this one.  Gotta love the bangs though.  She looks okay in Phoenix purple, but in Minnesota’s white/blue unis last night I actually mistook her for one of the Pilgrims who landed in Plymouth, or one of the girls in Weird Al’s Amish Paradise.  If anyone knows whether she’s single, please let me know.

3.  Candace Wiggins is fairly legit.  Take notice Brian Martin: she’s actually carrying a team and playing in all their games, so make sure you move her down a few spots in your next MVP feature.
